IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Umesh Yadav limits Bangladesh to 227 while Mominul Haque scores 84 on day 1

New Delhi: After a defeat in the first Test, Bangladesh has been limited to 227 runs in the first inning with Mominul Haque’s 84 runs on his Test return. India went with a spinner less and pace attack led by Umesh Yadav delivered. Both Umesh and Ravichandran Ashwin picked four wickets each while domestic legend Jaydev Unadkat took two wickets. India is batting at 19 for no loss at the end of day 1.

India dropped last game’s Player of the Match, Kuldeep Yadav, to go with three seamers seeing the conditions. This marked the return of Unadkat into the Test playing XI after 12 years. On the other hand, Bangladesh’s former captain Mominul Haque made a return after losing his batting form as Ebadot Hossain injured his back in the last match.

As the day began, Unadkat dismissed the last game’s centurion Zakir Hasan as he handed over a catch to the fourth slip. Ashwin came back into his original colours and quickly dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto. Shakib Al Hasan came in inspired by ‘Bazball’ and tried to score quick runs. However, his inning ended shortly after he handed the ball to Pujara on mid-off on the first ball after Lunch.

There were small partnerships while Haque held his end and helped Bangladesh cross 200. Ashwin managed to take four wickets while he got hit for a few boundaries. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj got hit for 39 runs in nine overs and did not get to bowl after that.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul is batting at 3*(30) and Shubman Gill took some risks to score 14* off 20.
