New Delhi: Team India will lock horns against England in the 2nd test of the five-match series at Lord’s, London on Thursday from 3:30 PM IST. The first Test ended in a draw after rain played spoilsport on the final day of the match.
Visitors needed just 157 runs to win on the final day with massive nine wickets in the hand but rain played the best out of the other two teams to make it draw. Team India could have won the fist test to take an early lead but as of now, the series stands level at 0-0.
Indian seamers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur impressed a lot as they managed to take all the 20 wickets of the hosts.
After the first test match, it is fair to say that Team India will hold the upper hand going into the 2nd test match. Visitor’s batting performance in the first innings has given hopes to the team and the fans as openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul managed to stitch a 97-run stand. Middle-order batsmen will be looking to capitalise on it as Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane gave a disappointing performance with the bat.
Fans were disappointed when they got to know that Ashwin is not playing the first match but as of now, the creative spinner could come into the XI as Shardul Thakur is out with a hamstring injury. Ishant Sharma can replace Shardul if the management wants to go with 4 seamers.
