IND vs ENG, First Test: Ben Stokes takes England to a respectable total with a fighting fifty, netizens react

IND vs ENG, First Test: The English skipper was the highest scorer for his team with 70 runs from 88 balls innings.

New Delhi: The first day of the first test of the Arthur de Mello trophy series between India and England turned out to be one of the most thrilling first days of a test match, as after the Indian spinner’s fury in the middle over, Ben Stokes’ masterclass took England to a fighting total.

Earlier, the English skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat first in order to avoid the fourth innings disaster in India.

England got off to a great start as Zak Crawley (20) and Ben Duckett (35), added 55 runs for the first wicket in just 11 overs.

However, Ashwin and Jadeja once again paired up to take three quick wickets and put the English Bazball into the bag.

Joe Root (29) and Jhonny Bairstow (37) then tried to revive the English innings but were once again silenced by the Indian bowlers.

The skipper Ben Stokes then took charge on his own hand and played a magnificent 70 runs off 88 deliveries before getting clean bowled by Bumrah and ending the English innings on 246.

Stokes mainly targeted Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin during his innings, which included six boundaries and three sixes.
