IPL 2021: Players who have tested positive for COVID-19 so far

Despite a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country there is no news about whether the program will go ahead as planned or will it get postponed.

New Delhi: As the second successive season of IPL during the pandemic is going to start from Friday. The T20 League has been seen a number of players testing positive for COVID-19 of various teams.

The 14th edition of IPL will be played behind closed doors in just six venues across the country. The tournament will start from April 9 and the final is scheduled for May 30. Despite a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, there is no news about whether the program will go ahead as planned or will it get postponed.

Players and Staff members who have tested positive so far:

Delhi Capitals

Axar Patel – The star of India’s test team against England tested positive for Covid-19 after reaching Mumbai to join his Delhi Capitals squad. Patel checked into the team hotel on March 28 after arriving with a negative Covid-19 report but his second test returned positive.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Nitish Rana – Rana tested negative after a week of testing positive for COVID-19 and undergoing self-isolation. Rana has joined the KKR training sessions after his 12 days of quarantine.

Mumbai Indians

Kiran More – Indian team’s former wicket keeper, who is now part of the Mumbai Indians’ coaching staff has tested postive for the virus.


Royal Challengers Bangalore

Devdutt Padikkal – He tested positive for the virus on March 22 and was since home quarantining in Bengaluru. Now, he has joined the RCB camp after his tests came back negative.

Daniel Sams – Although Paddikal has returned, one of his teammates have now tested positive for the virus. Sams reached Chennai on April 3 with a negative test report, but his reports came back positive for his second test on April 7. Sams has gone under isolation at a designated medical facility.
