IPL 2023 RCB vs DC: Pacers lead RCB to victory by 23 runs as Manish Pandey’s fifty goes in vain

RCB’s pacers thrashed the top order and left no room for a comeback as Manish Pandey’s fifty went in vain.

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a home win against Delhi Capitals and DC’s losing row continues. RCB’s pacers thrashed the top order and left no room for a comeback as Manish Pandey’s fifty went in vain. After Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell struck with the new ball, the Capitals were left at two runs at the cost of three wickets.

Impact Player Prithvi Shaw got himself run out on the fourth ball, followed by Wayne Parnell dismissing Mitchell Marsh and Siraj getting Yash Dhull. David Warner went for the attack and hit three consecutive fours to Siraj before Vijaykumar Vyshak got him as his maiden IPL wicket.

Young pacer Vyshak picked up three wickets and ended up with the figures of 20/3 as this will be a game to remember for him. Wanindu Hasaranga, who was available today, and Harshal Patel picked up a wicket each and this is a great sign for RCB as Hasaranga was playing his first game this season and Harshal showed signs of a comeback.

Aman Hakim Khan and Anrick Nortje played cameo knocks of 18 off 10 and 23 off 14 toward the end but DC was restricted to 151/9 as they lost by 23 runs.

In the first inning, Virat Kohli scored a cracking 50 off 34 with cameos Faf du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror and Glenn Maxwell. Faf gave a great start with 22 off 16 while Lomror scored 26 off 18. Glenn Maxwell’s cameo was rather brilliant as he hit three sixes to score 24 off 14.

Three consecutive wickets across the 14th and 15th overs got RCB off track. Axar Patel got Harshal Patel and Kuldeep Yadav got back-to-back wickets of Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik.

Harshal Patel, who was promoted to number 5, got out to Axar Patel in a debatable dismissal. There was an appeal for stumping but the third umpire Michael Gough witnessed several spikes, even when the ball was clearly away from the bat, but gave him out caught behind.

RCB could not finish the inning well as Anuj Rawat and Shahbaz Ahmed could manage only 40 runs in 5.4 overs. Shahbaz contributed 20* off 12, while Anuj Rawat, coming in as the Impact Player, scored 15* off 22.

For both teams, Impact Players had more of a negative impact, howver Anuj was the one who got Shaw runout. RCB had Hasaranga and Parnell sitting in the dugout when they sent in Anuj. Even sending Harshal Patel at number 5 has not worked in their favour yet. Nonetheless, Bangalore won the game and it is DC who has much to ponder upon their fifth consecutive loss.
