Ishant Sharma reveals MS Dhoni’s on-field temperament: ‘Mahi bhai often used abusive language,’ says the Indian pacer

According to Ishant, Dhoni has frequently used abusive language and has even shouted at the pacer on multiple occasions.

New Delhi: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the cricket field, has faced a surprising revelation from his former teammate, Ishant Sharma.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadiya, Ishant made a controversial claim, stating that Dhoni’s on-field persona is far from the cool and collected image he is often associated with. According to Ishant, Dhoni has frequently used abusive language and has even shouted at the pacer on multiple occasions.

While Dhoni has earned the moniker of ‘Captain Cool’ for his ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations, Ishant’s statement suggests a different side to the former captain’s temperament. Recounting his experiences playing under Dhoni’s captaincy, Ishant revealed that he had personally witnessed Dhoni’s use of abusive language during matches, both in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and with the Indian national team.

“Mahi bhai has many strengths. But calm and cool isn’t one of them. He often uses abusive language on the field, and I’ve heard it firsthand,” Ishant candidly expressed.

Despite acknowledging Dhoni’s occasional outbursts, Ishant clarified that he had rarely seen the former skipper get “angry” on the field. When prompted to recall a specific incident where Dhoni lost his temper, Ishant recounted an episode involving himself. While practicing throws, Ishant’s delivery did not meet Dhoni’s expectations, leading to a rare display of frustration from the usually composed captain.

“I haven’t seen Mahi bhai angry except once when I threw the ball, and it went down. When I threw it for the first time, he gave me a look. The second throw was even stronger, and the ball went down again,” Ishant reminisced. “When the third throw was also the same, he said, ‘Hit it in the hand.’ He said it with an expletive,” the pacer disclosed.

While Dhoni’s ability to maintain composure and lead his teams to victory is widely acclaimed, Ishant’s account sheds light on moments when the former captain’s emotions are not always as restrained as it appears.
