Men’s Asia Cup 2022 schedule released, India to face Pakistan on August 28

The most anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan will be played on August 28 in Dubai.

New Delhi: Men’s Asia Cup 2022 schedule released. The tournament will begin on August 27 with Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in Dubai. The Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format in UAE, however, the host of the tournament is Sri Lanka.

A total of six teams will play for the title, out of which five confirmed teams are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. One team from Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE will capture the 6th spot. The last Asia Cup was held in 2018 in UAE. The 2018 cup was won by India as the team defeated Bangladesh by chasing 222 on the last ball. The tournament was played in the ODI format, while this year the format changes to T20.

Asian Cricket Council has released the schedule of the tournament and the finals will be played on September 11, making it a 16-day event. The most anticipated encounter between India and Pakistan will be played on August 28 in Dubai. The teams are divided into two groups and the top 2 teams from both groups A and B will play the Super 4 to qualify for the finals.

India is placed with Pakistan in group A. The third team in the group will be decided after the qualifiers between Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE. On the other hand, group B includes the host Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The squads for the tournament are yet to be revealed by the respective cricket boards.

 

The tournament will be telecasted on Star Sports Network in India, and the games will begin at 7:30 pm IST.
