Paris Olympics 2024: Arjun Babuta missed medal position by a whisker as Manu Bhaker/Sarabjot Singh shine in Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol

New Delhi: In a day which was dominated by agonizingly close results for shooting, one more chapter was added to the chapter of “closed calls” for the Indian shooters.

In a game of very small margins, Babuta failed to save himself from the qualification problems as the gap between his performance and the leader Lihao Sheng extended to 1.3 points at the end of the fourth round.

At the start of the fifth round, Babuta was able to maintain the second spot while Sheng shared the second spot with Croatian shooter Miran Mariric. However, Shen hit some inner-10s towards the end of the fifth round to widen the gap between his position and the Croatian. On the other hand, Swedish shooter Victor Lindgren came from behind as he finished in the silver-medal position.

Babuta, however, was not able to maintain his position as he slipped to the fourth position and was eventually eliminated.

Medal Winners of the 10m Air Rifle

Here is the list of the medal winners from the Men’s 10m Air Rifle:

• Gold Medal: Sheng Lihao (China)- 252.2 Points
• Silver Medal: Victor Lindgren (Sweden)- 251.4 Points
• Bronze Medal: Miran Maričić (Croatia)- 230.0 Points

Good day at the Office for Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh

On the other hand, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh managed to qualify for the bronze medal match in the qualification round of the Mixed-team 10m Air Pistol. The duo scored a total of 580 points out of a total of 600 just one short of the South Korean duo of Oh Ye-jin and Lee Wonho.

Interestingly, it was Oh Ye-jin who crawled back into the individual match against Bhaker during the Individual Women’s 10m Air Pistol. So, Bhaker has a great chance to salvage that missed opportunity from yesterday.
