Ravindra Jadeja’s quirky reply to journalist over Afghanistan-New Zealand match storms internet

Ravindra Jadeja gave a hilarious response when a journalist asked about India’s scenario if New Zealand wins over Afghanistan.

New Delhi: Following two consecutive massive wins by India at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Team India is keeping their hopes high to make an entry in the semi-finals. On Friday, India defeated Scotland by chasing down 86 runs in 6.3 overs. The team’s Net Run Rate reached +1.619 ahead of Afghanistan and New Zealand.

However, India is depending on Afghanistan’s victory over New Zealand to qualify in the semi-finals. If New Zealand beat Afghanistan in Sunday’s match, India will be out from the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja, the player of the match came when a quirky answer when asked about this scenario in the press conference post-India versus Scotland’s match.

A journalist asked, “If Afghanistan beat New Zealand, only then do we have a chance. But what if Afghanistan can’t beat New Zealand, then?”

In response to the question, the 32-year-old all-rounder said, “Toh phir bag pack karke ghar jayenge, aur kya (Then, we will pack our bags and go home, what else).”

Jadeja also added during the press conference that it is not fair to judge the team based on one or two defeats, even though, the team has delivered consistently good performances at home and abroad in the last three years.

On Friday, India marked a commendable performance by defeating Scotland. On winning the toss, India decided to field first and restricted the Scottish players to 85 runs in 17.4 overs. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets.

From the batting squad, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma added 70 runs on board from just 30 balls. Rahul added a half-century off 19 deliveries while Rohit Sharma scored 30 balls from 16 balls.

India is hoping for Afghanistan’s win over New Zealand to qualify themselves for the semi-finals.
