New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik will be back on the field but in a new role as Royal Challengers Bengaluru has appointed DK as their new batting coach and mentor for the IPL 2025.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru announced Dinesh Kartik will be back on the side but in a new role. DK has been appointed as the new batting coach and mentor for the RCB men’s team in IPL 2025. Last season (IPL 2024) Kartik announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in which RCB finished in the 4th position.
Kartik has just fulfilled his responsibilities as a commentator in the T20 World Cup 2024 and now has taken up a new role in franchise cricket.

RCB shared a post on x which read “Welcome our keeper in every sense, Dinesh Karthik back into RCB in an all-new avatar. DK will be the mentor and batting coach of the RCB Men’s team! You can take the man out of cricket but not cricket out of the man! Shower him with all the love, 12th Man Army!”.
The former wicket-keeper, DK has represented India in 180 games across all three formats, scoring 3463 runs including a century and 17 half-centuries. He also has 172 dismissals under his name, behind the stumps. Karthik played his last international match against Bangladesh during the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Over the years, Dinesh has cemented his name as one of the finest finishers of all time. Now, the 39-year-old player is all set to begin the next phase of his life in a different role

“Coaching at a professional level is incredibly exciting for me and is something I’m truly passionate about as a new chapter in my life.
Hopefully, the breadth of my experiences as a player can contribute to the development of the group and bring added value,” Karthik added speaking about his new role in RCB.
