Ronaldo asks former manager Ralf Rangnick to demote captain Harry Maguire in February: Reports

According to some reports, Ronaldo was with other senior players including Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba when they held the talks with Rangnick at Carrington in February.

New Delhi: Some reports have surfaced, that state that the Manchester United star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was in talks with the previous manager to demote captain Harry Maguire. Earlier this year, Ronaldo held talks with former manager Ralf Rangnick regarding Maguire’s concerning form. He expressed his view on Maguire being a part of the starting XI.

According to some reports, Ronaldo was with other senior players including Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba when they held the talks with Rangnick at Carrington in February. However, captain Harry Maguire was not there for the meeting. Ronaldo stated in the meeting that Maguire needs to be benched due to his concerning form and said he is the ‘part of the problem’.

Rangnick expressed that it was improper for them to have such discussions without the captain being present there. Ronaldo also pointed out some tactical problems under Maguire’s captaincy and wanted to play two forwards in the front line rather than just him.

As the reports surfaced, Manchester United fans are expressing their views on the issue.

While some people are appreciating Rangnick, some find it to have ill intentions.

Rangnick is no longer the manager for Manchester United, he is now the manager of the Austrian national team. The United is now managed by Eric ten Hag. Meanwhile, Pogba is now at Juventus.

According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire, both were dropped by Erik ten Hag for the Liverpool match. It happened in a two-hour-long meeting with the Manchester United squad.
