Sachin Tendulkar’s 5 records that are unbreakable, Kohli still far behind

Sachin’s cricketing career boasts of a whopping 34,357 runs in all formats of the game, ODI & Tests. No player has reached closer to the batting legend’s record.

New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar, lovably called ‘the God of Cricket ‘ is celebrating his 50th birthday today. The legendary cricketer, with a career spanning more than two decades, created many records in his name which are not just unbreakable and also look far out of sight, either by his contemporaries or today’s cricketers.

Though, some of his iconic feat has been repeated like scoring double century in a match, however, there are still couple of records which look out of reach. Virat Kohli is assumed to be one such brilliant player who could achieve similar feat but he also remains far behind in numbers, as shown below.

5 records of Tendulkar, which unnerves cricketers

Sachin’s 100 tons in all formats

Sachin Tendulkar has played a total of 663 international matches including Test & One-Day International (ODIs) and amassed more than 34,000 runs. In 24-year-old long career, he hit 51 centuries in Test & 49 in ODIs, taking the total figure to 100 tons. This record poses as most daunting challenge by any cricketer as hitting 100 tons in one’s careers calls for brilliant form, all through one’s career.

Virat Kohli is seen as one such player who could break Sachin’s record but given his poor form, it won’t be easy task for him. With 75 tons, he has reached closer to Sachin’s exploits, lot will depend on how he plays in next 2-3 years.

Highest score in World Cup tournament

Sachin Tendulkar is also the player with highest runs in a World Cup tournament. In 2003, his amazing & spectacular knocks put up a total of 673 runs on scoreboard. Though, a couple of players reached closer but fell short of ‘magic score’. Matthew Hayden scored 659 runs & Rohit Sharma reached 648 runs in a tournament.
This record of Sachin remains unbroken till date.

34,357 runs in 24 year old career

Sachin’s cricketing career boasts of a whopping 34,357 runs in all formats of the game, ODI & Tests. No player has reached closer to the batting legend’s record. Kumar Sangarkara scored a total of 28,016 runs but then retired from game.

In current league of cricketers, Virat Kohli has got all eyes around him but he is still 10,000 runs far behind from the legend. Kohli has a total of 25,322 runs in his kitty.

Longest ODI career

Having debuted at 16 years of age, Sachin played all formats of the game for the longest time. His longevity, being one of the biggest hallmarks of his career is also something any player would find it impossible to challenge or overcome.

Sachin played ODIs for 22 years & 91 days. With challenges rising & career getting shorter, it’s yet another rare record that will be broken.

Maximum boundaries in Test cricket

This is another cricket exploits of the legendary cricketer. Sachin hit a total of 2058 boundaries in Test cricket. His closes rival till date is Rahul Dravid, who slammed 1654 boundaries in his career.

Joe Root is the latest player heading towards this target but with just 1204 boundaries, he has a long way to go before dreaming to achieve the magic number.
