New Delhi: Naseem Shah was seen inconsolable as India beat Pakistan by 6 runs in a low-score thriller at the Nassau County International Stadium, New York.

Pakistani bowlers restricted team India to only 119/10

The two arch-rivals India and Pakistan clashed at the biggest stage of T20I, at New York, during the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup, 2024. The two teams met for the first time on the American soil. The conditions favorable for bowlers, Babar won an important toss and elected to bowl first. The overcast conditions gave the Pakistani bowler an upper edge against the Indian batsman. The pace-factory Pakistan were proving to be a grave danger for the men in blue. Constant swing and seam made it difficult to score runs.

The Indian openers, Virat and Rohit got out early crushing the hopes for a good start in the first six overs. Rishabh Pant took responsibility and kept the scoreboard running.  Slight moisture and the uneven surface were a blessing in disguise for the Pakistani team. Despite the blunders while fielding, bowlers took charge and restricted team India to 119/10 in 19 overs. Rishabh Pant, the lone warrior scored 42(31).  Naseem Shah and Harris Rauf took 3 wickets each.
