Tennis legend Serena Williams announces retirement from sport

New Delhi: Serena Williams, Tennis champion and the reigning star of game, announced her retirement from the game, reports said.

Williams maintained a stellar record throughout her two decades career. The tennis star, who turns 41 next month, has 73 career singles titles, 23 career doubles titles in her kitty.

“I have never liked the word retirement. Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution, Williams reportedly told a leading portal.

Williams will retire from the game after the US Open tournament, which will begin this month and end in September.

“I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair,” Williams said.

She is the brand ambassador of leading global companies including Nike, Audemars Piguet, Away, Beats, Bumble, Gatorade, Gucci, Lincoln, Michelob, Nintendo, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Procter and Gamble.
