UAE women win as Nepal scores only 8 runs in U-19 T20 World Cup qualifiers

Nepal won the toss and chose to bat first, but their innings did not last long. Six of their batters got out without scoring any runs

New Delhi: In the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2022, a match between UAE and Nepal ended swiftly. The United Arab Emirates women’s Under-19 side got Nepal all out for just 8 runs. The score was then chased in 1.1 overs (7 balls), and UAE won by 10 wickets.

Nepal women’s U19 batting line-up faced an unimaginable collapse when after losing a wicket without even scoring a run, they lost four more wickets at 2 runs. Mahika Gaur emerged as the star bowler for UAE ending up with bowling figures of 5/2. Indhuja Nandakumar took 3 wickets and Samaira Dharnidharka stuck with the only one ball she bowled.

Nepal won the toss and chose to bat first, but their innings did not last long. Six of their batters got out without scoring any run, while Sneha Mahara scored the highest for Nepal scoring 3(10).

It took UAE 8.1 overs (49 balls) to end Nepal’s innings. Theertha Satish, captaining UAE, and Lavanya Keny chased down the score scoring 4(4) and 3(4) respectively.

Nepal, UAE, Thailand, Bhutan and Qatar are playing the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2022. The winner of this tournament will gain a spot in the main event to be held in South Africa in 2023.

Similarly, PNG and Indonesia in East Asia Pacific Qualifiers, Netherlands and Scotland in Europe Qualifiers and nine teams in Africa Qualifiers will be battling it out for their spots in ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
