UEFA Europa League SF: Arsenal against Emery; United against Roma

Arsenal will now face a bigger challenge in the semi-final, as they will face Villarreal, who are managed by former Gunners boss Emery.

New Delhi: Semi-Finals for this year’s UEFA Europa League are now locked as Arsenal defeated Slavia Prague 4-0 in an entertaining second leg of the Quarter-Finals. On the other hand, Manchester United won 2-0 against Granada in the second leg to reach the semi-final stage. The Gunners will now face Villareal in the semi-final which will ensure a reunion with former manager Unai Emery.

Arsenal vs Villareal

Arsenal reached the final of this competition back in 2019 but couldn’t get past their London rivals Chelsea in the final at Azerbaijan. Lacazette scored twice as Arsenal defeated Slavia Prague 4-0 at the Sinobo Stadium on Thursday evening, as they won 5-1 on aggregate.

But Arsenal will now face a bigger challenge in the semi-final, as now they are up against La Liga giants Villarreal, who are managed by former Arsenal boss Emery.

Villarreal have reached the semi-final of the competition after beating Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 on aggregate.

Man. United vs Roma

Talking about the other semi-final, English giants Manchester United will go up against Italian giants Roma.

United reached the final-four after winning against Granada 2-0 at Old Trafford, taking the aggregate score to 4-0. Edinson Cavani scored his second goal in just the first six minutes. Then in the last minute, Jesus Vallejo netted an own-goal confirming the place of Solskjaer’s side in the next round of the competition.

Reds will now face Roma to reach the final of the competition. Roma defeated Ajax 3-2 on aggregate in the two legs of Quarter-Finals. Although, the second-leg finished 1-1 in the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday, Roma’s 2-1 win in the Netherlands last week was essential to see them reach the semi-finals without any fuss.
