Vijay Hazare 2023: All four semi-finalists revealed, as quarterfinals concluded on same day

All four quarterfinals took place on Monday in Surat.

New Delhi: Vijay Hazare, the trophy of the 2023 season, has finally found its four semifinalists in the form of Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, after the conclusion of the quarterfinal

Vijay Hazare is one of the oldest domestic tournaments in India, which was also known as the One-Day Ranji tournament earlier, after the name of India’s biggest domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy, played in test format.

All four quarter-finals were played on the same day in the same city, with Haryana taking on Bengal, Rajasthan taking on Kerala, Karnataka taking on Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu taking on Mumbai.

Quarterfinal 1

In the first quarterfinal, Haryana squared off against the Bengal team, where Haryana won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Bengal, despite Shahbaz Ahmed (100) playing a century innings, were only able to post a total of 225 on the board, as the veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets while giving away only 37 runs in his 10 overs spell.

In reply, the Haryana side, with the help of opener Ankit Kumar’s 102 runs century innings, chased down the target comfortably with 4 wickets and 29 balls to spare.

Quarterfinal 2

In the second, Rajasthan locked horns with the Kerala team, where, after winning the toss, the Kerala team elected to bowl first.

Batting first, Rajasthan, with the help of Mahipal Lomor (122*) and Kunal Singh (66), posted a challenging total of 267 for eight on the board.

In reply, the Kerala team completely flattened out and got all-out on 67, giving the Rajasthan team a huge 200-run victory.

Quarterfinal 3

In the third quarterfinal, Karnataka took on the Vidarbha team, where the Karnataka team, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first.

While batting first Vidarbha team, despite Shivam Dube (41) and Yash Kadam (38), gutsy innings were only able to post 173 runs on the board, no thanks to Vijaykumar Vyshak’s deadly spell of 4 for 44 in 8.5 overs.

In reply, the Karnataka team, with the help of Samarth R (72*) and Mayank Agarwal (51), chased down the target with seven wickets and 57 balls to spare.

Quarterfinal 4

In the fourth quarterfinal, Tamil Nadu squared off against the Mumbai team, where, after winning the toss, Mumbai opted to bat first.

Batting first, with the help of Prasad Pawar (59) and Shivam Dube (45), posted a sub-par total of 227 runs on the board.

In reply, Tamil Nadu, with the help of Baba Aprajith (45) and Baba Indrajith (103*), chased down the target with 7 wickets and 40 balls to spare, becoming the fourth and final semifinalist team of the 2023 season.
