New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for 5 T20Is against the West Indies. The board has released 18 names in the squad, with Rohit Sharma captaining the Indian side. This will be India’s last T20I series before going into the ICC T20 World Cup in October.
India will be on a tour to West Indies for 3 ODIs and 5 T20I games. The T20 squad misses big names like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, who will also not be a part of the 3 ODIs being played on the tour. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin is back in the squad.
The selection committee has also decided to take Kuldeep Yadav on the tour, as he was also named a part of the ODI squad. BCCI is also expecting KL Rahul to return for the T20 series. However, Kuldeep and Rahul’s inclusion in the squad is subject to their fitness. Kuldeep Yadav underwent knee surgery in late 2021, while Rahul underwent surgery for his groin injury recently.
For the 3 ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan is named as the captain of the Indian side, while Ravindra Jadeja is set to be his deputy. Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal will be playing the 3 ODIs, but are not part of the T20 side.
