Year Ender 2023: From Rinku Singh to Ruturaj Gaikwad, check out the top 5 rising stars of Indian cricket

Year Ender 2023: Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad, both the batsmen have taken the world by storm with their batting style in 2023.

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team in the year of 2023, despite suffering two huge heartbreaks in WTC and ICC World Cup finals, has enjoyed a rather successful year.

India has been a dominant side throughout the year across the format, so much so that they are ending the year 2023 as the number one ICC-ranked side in all three formats, i.e., in test, ODI and T20Is.

One of the biggest reasons behind India’s success is the depth in their squad, as even though the seniors were resting during a majority of the series during the year, the young guns stepped up in their absence and played match-winning knocks for their team.

Let’s take a look at the top 5, rising star who promises a brighter future for Indian cricket after the era of current legends comes to an end.

1] Rinku Singh

One Indian player who, out of nowhere, became a household name in the year of 2023 is the southpaw from Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh.

Rinku rose to fame after hitting five sixes of five balls during an IPL game for Kolkata Knight Riders against the Gujarat Titans.

Rinku was called up for national duty during the Asian Games and then for series against Australia and South Africa, where he scored multiple match-winning knocks down the order, ensuring the Indian cricket team for a long-lasting finisher.

2] Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill, although he made his international debut a while ago, cemented his spot in the team in 2023.

The 24-year-old recorded at least one century in all three formats this year while also being the highest run-getter in ODI cricket in 2023.

Shubman Gill’s career is still young, but the batsman has proved that he is not just a one-season wonder but actually a long-run star in the making.

3] Ruturaj Gaikwad

The 26-year-old batsman from Chennai Super Kings is highly regarded by the CSK fans, but in 2023, he made the whole nation his fan.

Ruturaj, who doesn’t get many chances in the national team, was appointed as the skipper for the Asian Games 2023, and to no one’s surprise he led his team to a gold medal finish at the event.

He once again proved his worth during the T20I series against Australia, where he became the highest run-getter of the series with the help of one century and one-half century.

Ruturaj possesses the rare and unique ability to play both sensible and attacking cricket according to the situation, which makes him one of India’s most promising players for the future.

4] Tilak Varma

Just like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma also rose to fame from the IPL 2023, where while playing for the Mumbai Indians, he scored a total of 343 runs in just 11 matches.

Tilak received the national call-up the same year and became a trusted batsman in the middle order with his aggressive batting style and the ability to hit big sixes.

However, the southpaw still has to prove a lot in the upcoming times, but as far as his performance in 2023 is concerned, he is going to be an important player for India in the upcoming times.

He was also GT’s highest scorer in the finals against CSK, with 96 runs.

Sudharsan made his international debut against South Africa in India’s last ODI series of the year, but the southpaw proved his worth by scoring back-to-back half-centuries in his first two matches, proving his fans that he is all but ready to hang with the big boys.
