"In the light of the situation that had developed in Ayodhya, I had then ordered in writing that firing should not be done at the three lakh kar sewaks and other ideas should be used to control them," Kalyan Singh told mediapersons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed for calm ahead of the verdict as security has been beefed in Uttar Pradesh especially in Ayodhya.

There is a possibility that the Supreme Court's verdict, likely next month, will reflect the points in the mediation report. The Ayodhya judgement is expected to be delivered before Chief Justice Gogoi retires on November 17

The apex court was hearing the case from August 6 this year, on a day-to-day basis (five days a week) after the mediation process, conducted by a three member Mediation panel, headed by Justice (Retired) FMI Kalifullah, in the case failed.
