As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 11,13,966 samples were tested on Wednesday. A total of 24,59,12,587 samples have been tested so far.
The decision was taken at a meeting on Saturday in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the status of COVID-19 in the country and the preparedness of states and union territories for vaccination against the disease.

The overall vaccine efficacy was found to be 70.42 per cent. Further SII was granted permission to conduct phase 2/phase 3 clinical trial on 1,600 participants within the country, according to DCGI.
