The President emphasised that a society based on equality and harmony could only be possible by empowering women. The President said that while a lot of work has been done on the issue, but much remains to be done.

Kovind said that he feels honoured to unveil Gandhi's bust in the Philippines, which is the land of Jose Rizal. "Both Mahatma Gandhi and Jose Rizal believed in the power of peace and non-violence. The avenue in New Delhi named after your national hero continues to inspire and motivate us."
The President will head to Tokyo on October 21. He will attend various ceremonies related to the Emperor Naruhito's enthronement and also take part in a banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The ceremony will be attended by leaders from all parts of the world.
