Everything you need to know e-books on Android phones

However, with the new changes taking effect next month, Amazon was left with little choice except to go it alone.

New Delhi: Users with Android smartphones will be unable to purchase e-books from Amazon. As it prepares for changes in Google’s invoicing policies beginning June 1, the firm has stopped delivering its catalogue on Android. Google wants all of its partners to adopt its billing system instead of relying on third-party payment providers.

Amazon is well aware of the issue with such activities, as the corporation will be required to pay a commission to Google for consumer purchases.

So, if you’ve been reading Amazon books on your Android phone or e-reader, you won’t be able to do so anymore. In fact, if you try to buy e-books using the Amazon Android app, you’ll see a new window that states, “Why can’t I buy on the app?”

You’ll also note that after updating the Amazon app on your Android phone, you’ll get a notification saying that purchasing digital books on the Android app isn’t possible.

For the record, Amazon’s iOS app was withdrawn from the Apple App Store more than a decade ago. Google’s business policy seemed to satisfy the corporation in some way. However, with the new changes taking effect next month, Amazon was left with little choice except to go it alone. Any developer who does not make adjustments to the billing system by June 1 will be removed, according to Google. Instead of complying with the new restrictions, Amazon chose to exit the platform.

So, how can you get e-books on your Android phone now? Buyers should create a reading list for the e-books they want on the app, then go to the Amazon website using the web browser on an Android smartphone to purchase them.

This news comes just a few days after Amazon announced ePub compatibility, allowing millions of volumes to be transferred to the Kindle for reading.
