Facebook Campus will have new profiles, separate from those that users already have on the main platform. To create a Campus profile, students would require to provide college email address and graduation year.

New Delhi: Facebook, the social media giant that it is across the globe, never shies away from launching new features to lure new and dedicated users.

In the latest set of features, Facebook has launched a new section of the site called Facebook Campus, dedicated specifically to college students.

According to the announcement, Facebook Campus will have new profiles, separate from those that users already have on the main platform. To create a Campus profile, students would require to provide college email address and graduation year.

Just like Facebook Watch, the new feature – Facebook Campus will be accessible on the main platform. It will show a college-only newsfeed, specific to each student’s school.

Students can create Campus-only events and groups, which can be accessed by those from their school only. On the platform, a real-time chat room feature, called Campus Chats, will also be added for easy interaction among peers.

The one stand-out feature in Facebook Campus, especially in the age of coronavirus pandemic, is its Campus directory. The directory will allow students to search for classmates based on graduation year, subjects, enrolled classes, and more.

The social media giant has planned to roll it out initially in 30 schools across the US, however, large-scale expansion may follow depending upon its success.

Keeping a track of Presidential Elections in US, the social media giant also introduced Voting Information Center on its platform and on Instagram and Messenger. This feature will help users discover accurate and easy-to-find information about voting wherever they live.
