Foxconn now starts Apple iPhone 15 production in India

Many reports have circulated regarding the new iPhone, such that all models would have the dynamic island notch and that USB Type C charging will finally arrive.

New Delhi: This is the first time an Apple iPhone is being manufactured in India before its worldwide debut, and it’s happening in the facility of Apple’s contract maker Foxconn, where the iPhone 15 is expected to be presented next month.

Many reports have circulated regarding the new iPhone, such that all models would have the dynamic island notch and that USB Type C charging will finally arrive. Recent reports, however, suggest that iPhone 15 production might move to Tamil Nadu, India.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House this year, told CNBC that India has a lot of potential and opportunity for the iPhone.

Bloomberg previously stated that Apple has increased iPhone manufacture in India, assembling over $7 billion worth there in the previous fiscal year. In April, the publication quoted sources and said that 7 per cent of Apple’s iPhones are made in India.

According to Bloomberg, iPhone assembly in India had previously been behind China by six to nine months, but the gap has already shrunk substantially.

Bloomberg says that the iPhone 15 series will start manufacturing in Tamil Nadu soon. The next iPhones will be produced in a Foxconn Technology Group factory in Sriperumbudur. The Indian facility plans to export the gadgets within a matter of weeks once production begins in other countries like China, they added.

The Cupertino-based tech company is reportedly trying to diversify its manufacturing and relocate it away from China as tensions increase between Washington and Beijing.

The Pegatron Corporation and a Wistron Corporation facility that is being bought by the Tata Group are two other Indian suppliers that will begin making the iPhone 15 in the near future.

On September 12, Apple is expected to release the iPhone 15 series. Although, Apple has not officially announced a release date for the series yet.
