New Delhi: It is needless to ask what is YouTube? It has now become a necessity for internet users today. Almost every smartphone user use it for watching songs, news, funny videos, documentary, movies, and more.
At present, the company is run by Google. However, do you know how it started in 2005 and become the popular choice for consuming video and audio content.
The first video was uploaded on the platform by one of the three co-founders, Jawed Karim. The video was shot at an elephant enclosure at San Diego Zoo in the USA. Karim uploaded the video with the title, ”Me at the zoo”.
It has so far garnered over 20 million views and more than 11 million likes. ”All right, so here we are in front of the elephants. The cool thing about these guys is that they have really, really long trunks, and that’s that’s cool. And that’s pretty much all there is to say,” said Karim in the video.
The video was recently shared by YouTube on Instagram with a caption, ”If you think about it, it all started with a short #YouTubeFactsFest.”

Since being uploaded, it received over 1.75 lakh views and more than 400 comments.
A user namely Sourabh Mandilk wrote, ”This YouTube changed so many people’s lives.”
”I know this since it uploaded,” said another user.
A user commented, ”Damm! looked it up and it’s true.”
To which the platform replied, ” Bharosa rakhiye purane Khiladi hai hum.”

YouTube was officially launched in the market on February 14, 2005, by three people: Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim.
The three founders later decided to sell it for $1.65 billion to tech giant Google.
