AI to replace HR soon? Indians now want Artificial Intelligence to supervise & evaluate their work instead of humans

New Delhi: A recently released report has suggested that more than half of employees in India now want Artificial Internet (AI) to supervise and evaluate their work performance instead of human HR.

In the report published by HR solutions provider Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG), 71 percent of the Indian workforce said that they would choose Artificial intelligence as their preferred evaluator instead of human managers and superiors.

This not only shows people’s rapidly increasing acceptance and willingness for the involvement of Artificial intelligence in their professional lives but also reflects their lack of trust in their superior workers.

AI to manage employee schedules?

AI’s development and revolution are changing our world’s dynamics with each passing day and people’s faith in its ability and decision-making process is on a constant rise.

In India itself, the use of this revolutionary technology is increasing in all the major fields. 92% of the employees believe that AI should be used by their managers to frame their employee schedules, while 89 percent are of the opinion that it should help in doing the same.

The same study further discloses that 73 percent of employees have seen the use of AI tools and systems in their organization and workplace. However, only 47 percent of them are completely familiar with these AI tools and 44 percent have a partial understanding of their use.

A majority of employees have also accepted using AI’s generative tools such as ChatGPT (75%) Open AI (47%) and Google Bard (22%) regularly for their work as well as in their personal lives.

AI’s use at the workplace is supported by an overwhelming majority of 95 percent of Indians who claim that the same will enhance their work experience and have a positive impact on their professional lives.

Interestingly, the report also backs this claim by suggesting that so far, the integration of Artificial intelligence in the workplace has helped around 52% of employees and 49 percent of employees.

Why do you need to familiarise yourself with AI?

What raises alarm is that around 62 percent of the workers believe that it is high time for them to gain knowledge of and familiarize themselves with AI as it will become a much-needed criterion for getting or remaining in a job in the coming years.

Moreover, the majority of the employees are also of the opinion that those who have mastered AI will continue to gain more and more edge over their counterparts who are not familiar with it.

The study also shows that Over 90 percent of the country’s workforce thinks that if they are skilled in AI, they deserve better pay and compensation in comparison with those who don’t.

Out of this 90 percent, around 76 percent of workers further believe that they should get fewer working hours and days as long as they are enhancing their tasks by automating them with the use of AI.

AI’s rise in the next five years

Speaking about the involvement of AI at the global level, the study projects that over 70% of employees of the Companies that are using AI today will take the help of Artificial Intelligence in performing their Jobs by 2028.

Furthermore, even the executives of companies who have not yet introduced AI in their workplace believe that by 2028, around 20% of their employees will start using AI to automate and efficiently perform a number of their Job tasks.
