WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook down: Users take to Twitter to report issues

“We’re sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again,” reads Instagram right now, whenever we try to access it. WhatsApp is similar with a ‘Connecting’ and circular icon near the top.

New Delhi: WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Facebook Messenger are down for many users across India which means you can’t access the suite of Facebook-owned chat platforms.

Many users, including those in India, were unable to access both Instagram and Facebook on Android and iOS. They were greeted with a “couldn’t refresh feed” message. According to DownDetector, a site that tracks outages, the technical glitch took place after 11 pm (IST).

Several users took to microblogging site Twitter and wrote about their problems in accessing Facebook and Instagram, using the hashtag #instagramdown and #facebookdown

Facebook denied the reports and blamed a bug, which it said it was correcting, for triggering what it described as false notifications that Instagram was accessing iPhone cameras.
