New Delhi: Following Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, women and their liberties have been affected the most. Though newly formed Taliban government boasts of preserving everyone’s rights including women, various incidents of oppression & cruelty speak otherwise.

Sporadic protests against oppressive & tyranical rule of Taliban are already taking place. Launching a virtual campaign against Taliban banning girls from venturing out, boys and girls are sharing sharing photos and videos to register their protest.  One such video has grabbed the attention of all netizens.

In a minute-long clip, an Afghan girl is seen protesting against the tyranny of Taliban government. She has given a powerful speech focussing on the need for education for girls and women.

In the video, the girl is seen saying, “It is an opportunity to do something for our county. Allah has given this opportunity and women have equal rights…So, who is the Taliban to take this opportunity and rights from us?”

The speech continued, “Today’s girls are tomorrow’s mothers. If they do not have education, how will they teach manners to their children? I am from the new generation. I was not born to just eat, sleep and stay at home. I want to go to school. I want to do something for the development of my country.”

“Can you imagine how our country will develop without education? If I don’t get an education; if any girl in Afghanistan does not get an education, how will our next generation be well-mannered? If we have no education, we will not have any value in this world,” she added.

The video was shared by Afghan journalist Bilal Sarwary on Twitter. Praising the braveness of the girl, he said, ““I want to go to school.” A powerful message from this eloquent Afghan girl.”

Girl appluaded and cheered by netizens

The video crossed over 48,300 views within hours of being uploaded and shared. Twitterati stood in solidarity with the main theme of the speech and applauded her brevity.
