Ashraf Ghani’s brother pledges allegiance with Taliban, oppose former’s inclusion in govt

The deposed president Ashraf Ghani has reportedly taken refuge in US and is in talks to return to the violence-torn country.

New Delhi: Hashmat Ghani Ahmadzai, the brother of Afghanistan’s deposed president Ashraf Ghani, has pledged allegiance with the terror group Taliban, reports said.

“Hashmat Ghani, brother of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, swore allegiance to the Islamic Emirate in the presence of Khalil al-Rahman Haqqani,” a statement from the Taliban said.

Hashmat Ghani has called for the formation of an inclusive government in the war-torn country, however, has advised strongly against the inclusion of his own brother. He said that he has agreed to Taliban invasion to avoid bloodshed.

“West is keen on bringing Karzai to country. They must not be included. It is unacceptable. They are the ones who have ruined the country,” said Ahmadzai.

Hashmat also slammed his brother Ashraf Ghani govt as disaster and how it ruined the future of the country.

Afghan president Ashraf Ghani fled the country after Taliban’s seizure of Kabul & other cities. Later, in a video message, he also cited avoiding bloodshed as the reason behind leaving the country.

Meanwhile, the deposed president Ashraf Ghani has reportedly taken refuge in US and is in talks to return to the violence-torn country.
