Body of missing Australian man found in crocodiles in far north Queensland

New Delhi: Australian man who had gone missing after he had gone on a fishing trip in a crocodile-infested waters, Police said on Wednesday that his remains of man has been found inside two of the reptiles.

The victim has been identified as Kevin Darmody, a 65 year-old man who had gone fishing in far north Queensland as part of a group on Saturday. They had shooed the crocodile away so that they could start fishing.

Later, rifles was used to shoot and kill two crocodiles. One of the crocodiles mesured about 4.2 meteres while the other measured 2.8 metres. Both the crocodiles were found upstream from where the group was fishing within Lakefield National Park.

Police said that it was only after the examination that the remains of the man was found on both of the predators.

Cairns police inspector described the incident as “tragic, tragic ending”.

Following the incident, the Queensland state wildlife official Michael Joyce had urged people to be wary.

It further said that “This is croc country and if you are in water that too especially if you are in Lakefield, which is declared specifically for crocodile conservation, you should expect crocodiles in that water.”
