King Charles III Coronation: When & where to watch ceremony live?

The day will mark another turning point in the history of Great Britain and an important event from the Royal family’s point of view.

New Delhi: King Charles III’s coronation, Britain’s first in 70 years, is set to take place on May 6 where Charles will be crowned as the king in a Christian ceremony with a solemn ritual and a rich history. The day will mark another turning point in the history of Great Britain and an important event from the Royal family’s point of view.

Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar is on a two-day visit to Britain to attend the coronation ceremony.

Britain will get its first king since Charles’ grandfather King George VI, in 1937. The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey and will be attended by Charles’ second wife Camilla, the heads of state, and most of the members of the Royal family. While some changes to the traditions are expected, King Charles is set to wear the same vestments as his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. This time the coronation will witness women bishops and a diverse guest list.

When and where to watch the coronation ceremony?

The ceremony will take place at 11:00 am local time (3:30 pm IST) at Westminster Abbey. Coronation will be streamed live on the Royal family’s YouTube channel, BBC One, and BBC radio. Various international and national news channels are also expected to stream the event live.

Time (IST) Event
3:00 pm King Charles and Queen Camilla will step out of Buckingham Palace and get into the gold state coach. The procession following the coach will be led by PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty, and will comprise armed forces.
3:30 pm Archbishop of Canterbury will transfer the powers to the King and Queen and King Charles will be proclaimed as the head of the Church of England. Members of the House of Lords from the Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh communities will present the King with objects of their culture and ‘God Save the King’ will echo the hall.
4:30 pm King and Queen will travel back to Buckingham Palace.
6:45 pm King will do the classic balcony wave from the balcony of the Royal family.
