New Delhi: Amid the raging military war, Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was rocked by series of loud explosions on Monday morning. At least half a dozen people are said to have died and over 2 dozen people injured in the explosion, reports said.

Reports suggest that the Ukrainian capital & other adjoining cities have been hit by a barrage of missiles, apparently from Russia.

A Ukrainian official told BNO News that Russian missiles are bombarding various cities of the war-torn country.

Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the development and said that Ukrainian capital was rocked by multiple explosions and emergency services have been activated. The explosions took place at around 8:15 am. Air sirens were also sounded in Kyiv more than an hour before the blasts, reports said.

“Several explosions in the Shevchenkivskyi district- in the centre of the capital,” Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that there have been casualties in missile attacks and said that Russia was ‘trying to destroy us and wipe us out from the Earth’.

The missile attacks come just days after Russia’s Crimea was rocked by a powerful blast. A truck bomb destroyed the massive bridge connecting Russia to its annexed territory of Crimea.
