Mob storms Russia’s Dagestan airport hunting for Jewish passengers, VIDEOs surface

Many demosntrators, chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ were seen breaching security and transgressing on the runway. Many people could be seen waving the Palestine flag outside the airport.

New Delhi: The Makhachkala airport in Russia’s Dagestan region became the epicenter of uproarious & turbulent scenes on Sunday, as a violent mob stormed the structure and created huge chaos in protest against ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The airport was besieged by hundreds of protesters who came looking for Israeli nationals in a plane that was arriving from Israel. The mob, reportedly chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ hunted for Israeli passengers inside the airport. They scoured through the security rooms & other areas of the airport and also barged into the plane to find any Israeli passenger.

The mob went on a hunting spree for Israeli flyers and even cornered an Uzbek resident. An unverified video in circulation shows a person being harassed by hostile mob. In the video, the singled out man reasons that he is not Israeli national but the hostile mob continues to harass him.


At least 2 persons were injured in the violent assault by pro-Palestine supporters while couple of policemen also received injuries.

Dagestan is one of the Muslim-dominant areas in Russia and has significant Muslim population.

Local media reported that more than 150 people have been identified for creating unrest and about 50 of them have been arrested.

How Russian airport besieged by hooligans

According to reports, the flight from Israel’s capital Tel Aviv had landed in Dagestan at around 7 PM. It was a transit flight and was set to take off for Moscow, two hours later.

As the violent mob went on rampage, some people perceived as Israelis were persecuted & harassed, as seen in viral videos.

Several video clips of the violent mob running riot inside the airport has gone viral on social media, drawing angry condemnation & outcry from all across the world.

Israel PM’s statement on safeguarding jews in Russia

After the Dagestan airport incident created furore on internet, Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s office called on the Russian authorities to ensure safety & security of Jews in the country. It also called for strong action on rioters.

“Russian law enforcement authorities to protect the safety of all Israeli citizens and Jews wherever they may be and to act resolutely against the rioters and against the wild incitement directed against Jews and Israelis”, Israel PM’s office said.

Meanwhile, Israel and Hamas continue to engage in armed conflict. Till date, more than 8,000 Gaza residents are said to have been perished while the casualty on Israeli side has exceeded 1500.

The full-fledged war broke out after Hamas militants launched multi-front attack on Israeli on October 7, killing more than 1,000 Israelis and taking over 200 hostages.
