New ambassador of Saudi Arabia calls for deeper ties with India

The newly appointed ambassador said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to friendship and partnership relations with India, built on common interests based on ties of trust and respect.

New Delhi: Mr Saleh Eid Al Husseini, the new ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who landed in India yesterday, has underlined the need for deeper & stronger ties with India.

The newly appointed ambassador said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to friendship and partnership relations with India, built on common interests based on ties of trust and respect.

He said that he looks forward to working closely in order to achieve the two countries’ deep commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership, deepening this relationship at the bilateral and multilateral levels, and enhancing cooperation in various fields, along with activating the terms of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides and working to enhance joint cooperation in all fields in a manner that achieves the interest of our two friendly countries and people.

On economic note, Saudi Arabia is India’s largest trading partner in the Gulf and also the 4th largest trading partner. India imports more than 18% of its crude oil requirement from Saudi Arabia. In FY22 (Apr-Dec), the bilateral trade between two nations was valued at $29.28 billion. During the period, India’s imports were valued at $22.65 billion and exports to the Gulf nation stood at $6.63 billion.
