Bangladesh: After 6,000 cops tested Corona positive, police personnel turn to Yoga to boost immunity

The virus has so far spread to nearly every Bangladeshi district and the number of cases rose to 65,769 with 888 deaths on Sunday.

New Delhi: Bangladesh may not be among the top 10 nations being battered by the Coronavirus pandemic but its police force has hard hit by the virus. According to reports, more than Bangladesh policemen have contracted the Covid-19 virus, out of which around 1800 are in Dhaka alone.

Till now, 16 police officials have succumbed to the deadly virus while over 2,700 have recovered.

B’desh cops turn to Yoga sessions

In a bid to improve immunity of the police officials, Yoga sessions are being organised. Score of policemen are participating in these Yoga asanas to improve their immunity.

This security division was also behind the initiative of organising yoga sessions for police officials on Sunday.

“We were instructed to do what could be done to morally boost the force amid this crisis. This yoga is a part of that mission for us,” Saha said, adding that up to 1,200 policemen will take part in the sessions.

Shama Makhing, a yoga teacher who led nearly 100 officers in stretching and breathing exercises early on Monday, said that the yoga would help cops maintain their physical and mental strength.
