Paramjit Singh Panjwar, wanted Khalistani terrorist shot dead; investigation launched

During the investigation it was also been found that the assailants had held a recce for a week.

New Delhi: Paramjit Singh Panjwar, wanted Khalistani terrorist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Saturday while he was out for a morning walk near his residence in Lahore, police said.

The 63, year old was heading the Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar group. India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in July 2020.

A senior officer of Pakistan’s Punjab police said that he was shot on his head by the gunmen and he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The incident took place while he along with his guard, was walking in the park at Sun Flower Housing Society in Jauhar Town in Lahore.

Two unknown gunmen opened fire at them and fled from the spot on a motorcycle, the officer said.

Soon after the incident, the area was cordoned off by the Pakistan’s intelligence agencies including the ISI, Military Intelligence (MI) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

An investigation into this matter has been launched, while media was not allowed at the crime scene where Panjwar was killed.

According to an eyewitness, gunman shot Singh while he was in the park along with his guard at around 6 am on Saturday. The gunman suddenly came close to them and fired upon them.

During the investigation it was also been found that the assailants had held a recce for a week.

Earlier in February this year, Bashir Ahmad Peer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi.

He was a self-styled commander of the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
