SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu confirms he’s alive, dispelling rumors of tragic accident

The news of his alleged demise had spread rapidly on Wednesday, July 5, with videos and reports circulating on social media.

New Delhi: SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who was rumored to have died in a road accident in the US and had social media abuzz with speculations, has confirmed that he is alive and well in New York.

The news of his alleged demise spread rapidly on Wednesday, July 5, with videos and reports circulating on social media. However, journalist Aditya Raj Kaul received a message directly from Pannu, clarifying that the news was false.

Parvasi Media, a Canadian news portal specializing in South Asian affairs, also released a video stating that various news outlets had mistakenly reported Pannu’s death in an accident. Multiple individuals even took to social media on Thursday, July 6, to refute the claims and assert that Pannu is alive.

The speculation surrounding Pannu’s death was fueled in part by the recent mysterious deaths of three Khalistani sympathizers. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in Vancouver, Canada, on June 19, while Paramjit Singh Panjwar was killed in Lahore, Pakistan, in May. Additionally, Avtar Singh Khanda, a self-proclaimed Khalistani leader associated with the Khalistan Liberation Force, died in Birmingham, UK, on June 15. These incidents prompted discussions and speculation about Pannu’s well-being.

It is important to note that Sikh For Justice (SFJ) is regarded as a terror outfit and has been linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter State Services (ISI). The organization has been accused of attempting to revive militancy in India and promote the creation of Khalistan. Due to its involvement in activities related to terrorism, SFJ has been banned by the Indian government under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
