Ukraine raises over $15 mn through crypto donation; Here is how you can support its army

New Delhi: Accepting donations through the bank has become old-fashion these days. War-torn country Ukraine has raised over $15 million by accepting donations in cryptocurrencies, according to research firm Elliptic. It raised the money since Russia begin its invasion of the country last week.

However, Ukraine legalised Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in 2021. A Ukrainian NGO, Come Back Alive, is accepting crypto funds.

The average amount of donation was recorded between $1,000 and $2,000. It is reported317 individuals have donated through cryptocurrency in the last two days. One group donated over $400,000 worth of Bitcoins.

Amid the ongoing war with Russia, Ukraine also officially asked for donations in cryptocurrencies.

On late Saturday, Ukraine tweeted to inform everyone that it is accepting donations through cryptocurrencies. It also requested people to donate to stand with the people of Ukraine.

The tweet stated, ”Stand with the people of Ukraine. Now accepting cryptocurrency donations. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT.”

Support Ukrainian Army

In another tweet, Ukraine openly said donation money will be used to the Ukrainian Army which is fighting against Russia.

Besides, the country requested people to ”organise street protests in your city to support Ukraine and condemn Russian aggression.”

How to donate crypto to Ukraine

However, the question arises — how can one donate cryptocurrencies to Ukraine?

The process to transfer crypto was also shared by Ukraine in one of their tweets. The tweet provides two links through which one can transfer money.

Asking the support from people, it further tweeted, ”Dear friend, your actions matter. Your voice can be decisive to strengthen Western resolve and protect the security of Ukraine, Europe, and the democratic world. Act Now!”
