US cop assaults teen eating burger at McDonald’s parking, opens fire [VIDEO]

As the vehicle starts moving while its door was still open, the cop aims his gun at the teenager and shot multiple times within seconds

New Delhi: A San Antonio police officer James Brennand was sacked on Friday after a video of him opening fire on a 17-year-old teenager surfaced online. The boy named Erick Cantu was also initially charged with ‘evading detention in a vehicle and assault on a police officer’. However, the charges against Cantu were later dropped after the body-cam footage from the police officer was recovered, the local media reported.

The now-viral clip shows officer Brennand approaching a car parked in the parking lot of a Mcdonald’s outlet and he abruptly opens its door. A teen can be seen sitting at the wheel and enjoying a burger when the officer asks him to step out of his vehicle. As Cantu resisted and asked the reason for it, the cop grabs him and try to move him outside the car.

As the vehicle starts moving while its door was still open, Brennand aims his gun at the teenager and shot multiple times within seconds. Fortunately, Cantu was quick to shut the door of his car and fled the spot. His car was later found a block away and he suffered multiple shots. Cantu is currently recovering at the hospital.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said, “There’s nothing that I can say that could defend what he did, his actions that night. Officers are prohibited from shooting at moving vehicles unless it’s in defense of life, and that particular case that evening was not in defense of life”.
