New Delhi: In a viral video circulating on the internet, a 23-year-old Barista shatters a customer’s windshield with a hammer after the man throws coffee on her face for seemingly being overpriced.

The 23-year-old barista, Emily Lee, works in a drive-thru coffee shop, A Taste of Heaven Espresso south of Seattle, USA. In the video, Lee is seen smashing a customer’s windshield as he throws coffee at her face. The man threw the coffee allegedly over its price which according to him was overpriced.

As per the reports, the man ordered a cup of coffee and a glass of water from the drive-thru coffee shop, A Taste of Heaven Espresso. For his order, the total amount the man needed to pay was $22 (approximately Rs 1835). Which felt highly overpriced to him sparking the argument.

The man argued that he would be paying less than the actual amount as he was not aware of the prices. He even accused Emily Lee, the owner, of scamming him.

Moreover, The 23-year-old woman stated that the man’s arguments were baseless as the prices were listed. She even claimed the man threatened her.

“I was trying to de-escalate as much as I felt was appropriate for the situation. I have a hammer under the counter for self-defense. In this particular business, where women are alone, they are extra vulnerable, you need it.” Lee added describing the incident.

Additionally, the 23-year-old filed a lawsuit against the man who reportedly would seek legal help for damaging his car’s windshield.

Lastly, Lee added, “Why should this kind of interaction be expected because of the environment? It’s disgusting”.

Netizens reactions

After the video went viral, users didn’t swither to put in their opinions. Some praised Lee’s course of action and said it was justified. However, others stated, the situation could have been handled better.

“Mad about the price when he could have easily gone to a regular coffee shop is wild,” said a social media user. “Hammer on the windshield was justified”, remarked another. A third one added, “YOU GO GIRL! The people hating don’t understand.”

Meanwhile, a fourth comment read, “So much for water, she threatened to throw the drinks, makes sense he does it back to her. She had it coming lol.
