Who is Robert E Crimo III? The suspect of Chicago’s July 4 mass shooting

The police reported that the 22-year-old man who is from the area, has been taken into custody and charges will be filed against him.

New Delhi: Mass shooting at the Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park took place on Monday. Robert E Crimo III, the suspected accused who seemed to have a role at the shooting has been taken into police custody. Reportedly, six people died and around 36 were injured in the incident.

The police reported that the 22-year-old man who is from the area, has been taken into custody and charges will be filed against him.

Video footage by the Chicago affiliate of ABC News showed the police surrounding a car and then Crimo getting out of the vehicle with raised hands reported Reuters. Crimo is then seen lying flat on the ground before police take him into custody.

The video which was shared by journalist John Dodge showed armed police forwarding towards Crimo to surrender. “Do me a favour, get on your knees, get on your knees lay down flat on your stomach,” an officer was heard telling the suspect through a loudspeaker.

According to the Chicago-based newspaper Chicago Tribune, the arrest happened eight hours after the shooting. Highland Park police Chief Lou Jogmenn identified Crimo as a person of interest, involved in the shooting.

Crimo was presumably driving a 2010 silver Honda Fit. North Chicago police spotted Crimo near US Highway 41 and Buckley Road. Quoting Jogmen, the newspaper reported that Crimo fled shortly before he was stopped by the police.

Fourth of July

The newspaper also reported that Crimo is a long-time resident of the Highland Park suburb. As per his digital footprint, he has a YouTube channel under a different name where he posts videos of him hanging out with his friends and a few that refer to a school shooting and gun violence.
