The demand for strict laws on airbags in cars increased after the death of Cyrus Mistry who lost his life in a car accident 5 days ago in Maharashtra’s Palghar as he was not wearing a seat belt.
It is reported that 11 per cent of deaths and injuries in cars were caused to passengers owing to non-usage of seat belts. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, over 1.55 lakh people lost their lives in road accidents in 2021.
