On to the changes then — while the model seems to retain its overall silhouette, it does look much sharper than ever before.

New Delhi: Images of the SsangYong Rexton facelift have been leaked on the web ahead of the global unveil on November 4, 2020. Now, based on these images of the updated SsangYong SUV, it is easy to see that the Rexton is headed for quite the refresh, i.e. it will receive significant changes this time around.

On the outside, the Rexton facelift gets a new gloss black bold large grille with thick chrome edging. It also receives new LED headlights with D-shaped LED DRLs and fog lights embedded in the new restyled bumper. The side profile of the facelift remains mostly unchanged with the redesigned alloy wheels. Moving to the rear are the new T-shaped LED tail lamps, with reworked bumpers and reflectors. The ‘Rexton’ badge is now moved upwards below the rear windscreen.

As for the engine, word has it that SsangYong will retain the outgoing model’s 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Now, about the Mahindra Alturas G4 — while it is still essentially the SsangYong Rexton G4, the former did receive some tweaks before it became available for retail here in 2018. And unlike the SsangYong version, it is yet to receive even one update. So, one may be inclined to believe that this update for the SsangYong model will mean the Mahindra model will receive an update as well. Perhaps — but it won’t be anytime soon since the automaker is focusing on the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 for now.
