‘Adani group is working in 22 states…’: India’s richest man answers questions on PM Modi, Rahul & 26/11 attacks in Aap Ki Adalat

New Delhi: Asia’s richest and world’s third richest man and owner of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, came for an interview with anchor Rajat Sharma, in his talk show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. Adani sat in the witness box and answered questions on his group’s political affiliations and other controversies surrounding him. This was his second such appearance on television after he did an interview with India Today.

In the show telecast on India TV, Adani catered to questions about how he became so rich, his relationship with PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi’s opinion about him. The businessman also opened up about his personal relations and his business rivalry with the Ambanis.

Talking about his successful ventures and political affiliation with the BJP government, he said that his business started flourishing when then PM Rajiv Gandhi’s government introduced the ‘Exim policy’. He added that the Adani group is working in 22 states, and all are not BJP-ruled. He said that he is working in left-ruled Kerala, Mamata Didi’s West Bengal, Naveen Patnaik’s Odisha, and with the KCR government, he even attended the Rajasthan investors summit by CM Ashok Gehlot.

When asked about Rahul Gandhi, he said that because of his verbal attacks, the world has known who is Adani.

On the question asked about charity, he said that he donated Rs 60,000 crore on his 60th birthday to the foundation run by his wife so that the money reaches the needy. Talking about his kidnapping, he said that he slept well the next day when he was released and he tries to adapt to situations without fear.

Answering the question about the 26/11 attack, he said that he had a business meeting in Taj Hotel that day and when the terrorists attacked the hotel, he was taken to the kitchen from the back door by the hotel staff. He appreciated the dedication of the staff and told that he was later rescued by the commandos.
