Economy on uptrend: Hiring activity grows by 43% annually in October

According to Naukri JobSpeak report, there was a 43 per cent year-on-year (Y-O-Y) growth. However, there has been 8.35% decline as total number of job listings was 2,753 on the portal in the previous month.

New Delhi: In a clear signal of reviving growth post the Covid-19 induced economic stress, jobs data has witnessed surge in numbers. According to a report, the hiring activity has expanded by 43% year-on-year in October and has been mainly driven by IT sector.

According to Naukri JobSpeak report, there was a 43 per cent year-on-year (Y-O-Y) growth. However, there has been 8.35% decline as total number of job listings was 2,753 on the portal in the previous month.

Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly Index that calculates and records hiring activity based on job listings on Naukri.com website, month on month.

Other sectors which witnessed spike in hiring activity include Retail (51 per cent) and Hospitality/Travel (48 per cent). Other sectors like Education/Teaching (41 per cent) and Banking/Financial Services (39 per cent) also experienced growth as compared to October 2020.

Metro cities have recorded growth of about 59% on Y-O-Y basis while small towns have grown at a pace of about 30%.

Employment

Sectors like Hospitality/Travel and Retail, which were most impacted during the peak pandemic, have outperformed other major sectors bringing cheer to job seekers across the country, Naukri.com Chief Business Officer Pawan Goyal added.
