Now, you can buy coffee, ice cream & pizza using Bitcoin… here is how

The company’s app will have a ‘Shop’ button where vouchers for Dominos, Indian coffee chain Cafe Coffee Day, ice cream chain Baskin & Robbins, and more will be available. The app will also show a dropdown menu, which includes vouchers in different INR denominations.

New Delhi: When cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin remain a ‘mirage’ and an elusive currency for many, a major shake-up is going on in the crypto market that will increase crypto’s reach to common men by manifold.

The Indian crypto exchange and wallet namely Unocoin are allowing its users to buy consumer items using Bitcoin.

In an announcement recently, Unocoin said it will facilitate consumers to use Bitcoin worth ₹100 to ₹5,000 to buy vouchers that can be exchanged for other items.

Unocoin allows consumers to buy vouchers against the digital currency. These vouches can then be used to buy any consumer products including coffee, pizza or other items. According to the crypto exchange, the users can transact with Bitcoin worth Rs 100 to Rs 5,000 to buy the vouchers.

Buying Pizza with Bitcoin

Buying of consumers items including pizza and ice cream will happen on Mobile App. The App has a Shop button where vouchers of various companies including Café Coffee Day, Baskin & Robbins are available. In the dropdown menu, the App will display vouchers in Indian denomination, which people could buy for different cash amounts.

Once the voucher is purchased, a corresponding amount will be deducted from user’s crypto wallet.

Unocoin is not the first of its kind to run such a scheme. Before Unocoin, Zebpay was the brand that partnered with Flipkart and gave its customers vouchers for Bitcoin.

Unocoin is the oldest crypto wallet in the country, having incorporated in 2013 and eventually paved the way for other crypto wallets.

In recent times, Bitcoin has seen registered significant growth and saw major gains from its record lows. It also gave a major fillip to crypto exchanges in the country as CoinDCX became the first Indian Unicorn crypto exchange.
