Record number of 34,602 people recovered from Covid-19 in last 24 hours

India is performing well in several indicators in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. The recovery rate is progressively increasing and fatality rate is continuously declining.

New Delhi: A record number of 34,602 people affected with coronavirus have recovered in the past 24 hours. This is the highest number of recoveries in a single day since the outbreak of the Pandemic in the country.

With this, recovered cases of Covid-19 crossed the 8 lakh mark and stands at 8,17,209. And the recovery rate improved to 63.45 per cent in the country.

Corona - Covid

The Government said, the highest number of 49,310 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country within 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 12,87,945.

Presently, the total number of active corona cases in the country is 4,40,135.

In a single day, 740 deaths have been reported taking the nationwide toll to 30,601.

However, the case fatality rate is continuously declining in the country and it reached 2.37 per cent.

Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that a total of 3,52,801 tests of corona virus samples were conducted by the various laboratories within 24 hours.

So far, laboratories have conducted 1,54,28,170 tests. ICMR is continuously ramping up the testing facilities in the country.

At present, a total of one thousand 290 laboratories across India are conducting the tests for Covid-19 including 897 government laboratories and 393 private laboratories’ chains.

In terms of recovery rate of coronavirus cases, Delhi is at the top with 85.63 per cent recovery rate followed by Ladakh, Telangana, Haryana, Gujarat and Assam. In these States and Union Territories the recovery rate is above 71 per cent.

17 States/UTs have recovery rate better than national average

17 States and Union Territories have better recovery rates than the national average of 63.45 per cent.

In terms of number of people recovered from Covid-19, Maharashtra is leading the tally followed by Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Telangana.

There are 30 States and Union Territories which have lower fatality rate than the national average of fatality rate 2.37 per cent.

In the total active cases, 67.83 per cent caseloads are from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
