NEET PG 2021 postponed due to Covid-19 spike, new date to be announced later

“In light of the surge in #COVID19 cases, GoI has decided to postpone #NEETPG2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18. Next date to be decided later,” Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted.

New Delhi: The National Eligibility cum Entrance test (NEET) for post graduate (PG) students has been postponed for the time being, Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said on Thursday.

The NEET examinations were earlier scheduled to be held on April 18.

The announcement comes in wake of massive surge in Coronavirus numbers across the country, with Covid-19 cases breaching 2 lakh mark in 24 hours. The postponement of NEET PG comes just a day after Class 12 CBSE Board examinations were deferred till June 1.

“In light of the surge in #COVID19 cases, GoI has decided to postpone #NEETPG2021 exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on Apr 18. Next date to be decided later,” Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted.

“Decision has been taken keeping wellbeing of our young medical students in mind,” the minister tweeted.

Health Minister informed that NEET examinations will be held later but any announcement on the same could happen only after reviewing the Covid situation.

NEET PG examination is held for doctors seeking admission in MS, MD courses. The examination was earlier scheduled to be held in January but was postponed because of the pandemic.
