72 Hoorain Review: Pawan Malhotra’s unsparing movie tries hard to provoke sentiments

The movie’s story revolves around the lives of two Fidayeen suicide bombers who have lost their lives in a devastating bomb blast

New Delhi: One of the most controversial movies of the year 72 Hoorain finally made its way to the theatres today.

The movie, which centres around the afterlife of two dead terrorists whose souls wander the planet in search of 72 virgins tries to throw light on sensitive issues like religious manipulation, brainwashing and extremism.

Story

Based on a sensitive yet controversial topic, 72 Hoorain tries hard to provoke public sentiments by showcasing the impact of deadly bomb blasts on the lives of innocent civilians. It also depicts how extremist groups allure a significant number of Muslim youth by showing them baseless afterlife dreams of Hoores and angels.

The movie’s story revolves around the lives of two Fidayeen suicide bombers who have lost their lives in a devastating bomb blast.

As the souls of the dead terrorists wander here and there in the hope of meeting 72 hoorain as promised by Maulanas, their dreams of having an afterlife full of sexual satisfaction and luxury are crushed when reality hits and they get to know what hell looks like for terrorist like them.

Acting

72 Hoorain’s lead actors Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir have impressed the audience with their captivating acting as leading characters of the movie Hakim Ali and Bilal Ahmad.

The 65-year-old actor Pavan has effortlessly managed to turn heads with his powerful dialogue delivery, solid acting and expressions that did complete justice to the character of a frustrated dead terrorist he played in the movie.

Nonetheless, Barring Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir’s impactful acting, the performance of the rest of the actors and the supporting cast of the movie has been simply forgettable and below average.

Direction

Talking about 72 Hoorain’s direction, one can safely say that the movie’s director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan has tried his best to trigger a thought-provoking sentiment in the public with his direction.

However, the movie’s unpleasing VFX and poor background score nullified his efforts as the movie fails to keep viewers engaged and make a lasting impact on their minds.

Conclusion

Despite being based on an intriguing yet sensitive topic like religious extremism and manipulation, 72 Hoorein came out as a slight disappointment thanks to its average storyline, loosely written dialogues and rookie-level acting by its supporting cast.

Nevertheless, 72 Hoorain’s anti-terrorism theme, Pavan Malhotra’s iconic acting and some hard-hitting graphic visuals make the movie a one-time watch for sure.
